Former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman will announce plans to leave the 2012 GOP presidential primary campaign, source tells CBS News, after finishing third place in the New Hampshire primary fails to give the struggling campaign a badly needed boost.
After officially announcing withdrawal, Huntsman is expected to throw out the current cutting edge support for Mitt Romney, thus ending rumors that he may seek an independent presidential bid.
Huntsman is expected to make a formal announcement ending the campaign and endorsed Romney on Monday morning, the sources told CBS News. The announcement was likely to take place at an event in Myrtle Beach, SC, around 11 a.m.
