We guarantee full Afghan probe Marines video in the middle of the curse and terrified strained relationships
WASHINGTON
Defense Minister Leon Panetta called Afghan President Hamid Karzai offering guarantees of a full investigation and Marines over internal as well as the General promised a criminal probe. Investigators moved quickly to identify and interview at least two of the four Marines. They are members of the Battalion who fought for seven months in former Taliban strongholds in Southern Afghanistan.
Their units, the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines, returned from Helmand province to the main base at Camp Lejeune, N.C., last September. Naval officials said that a battalion officer confirmed to investigators on Thursday, on the basis of the test video, that the four men pictured urinating have been members of the battalion. The two have since moved to the unit.
Like the video spread across the Internet in a post and re-post, U.S. officials have joined the Afghans in calling it a sad, shocking, inhumane and a breach of military standards of conduct. It shows people in the naval battle gear stood on the body three touch piss boys in Afghan clothes that standard, one that the chest was covered in blood.
